So, what's wrong with you? There must be something if they've sent you here. Suicide attempts, perhaps? Drugs? Do you hear voices? See things? Don't worry. You're not alone. Everyone here is just like you. The patients smile and laugh. The staff tells the friends and family everything is hunky dory, but it's all a lie. The patients here are dangerous, sure, but it's the staff you have to watch out for.
Rebecca Manetti. A doctor with an agenda. She's getting paid the big bucks by pharmaceutical companies to test new drugs on the patients. And those aren't the only experiments being preformed on the patients. Michael Thropp, a man obsessed with money and power, was approached by a member of the United States government. They had discovered what Rebecca was doing, but rather than put a stop to it, they offered Thropp a lot of money to do some experiments of his own. The government is always looking for a way to improve their soldiers. Genetic mutations are popular in science fiction, and Thropp was charged with finding a way to make them a reality. Some of the patients have benefited, some have become sick, and some have died. As if all that wasn't bad enough, there's Richard Curtis, a security guard with a serious bone to pick. Loves his job, but hates the patients. He'll use any excuse to get them in trouble and dishes out the worst punishments.
And for those few patients who follow the rules, are ineligible for Thropp's experiments, and don't have the right disorders for Rebecca's experiments, there's still each other to worry about. Patients have killed before. It's not a common occurrence, and it's usually hushed up right away, but it does happen. There are even rumors among the patients that there are patients buried on the hospital grounds. None of the patients realize this is true, though they do love creeping each other out with stories of the unsettled souls that wander the halls.
With all of this and terrible cafeteria food, it's no wonder the patients here are miserable. They want out, but the only way out is to be declared sane, not an easy feat. Not only do you have to be cured, but if you're useful to Thropp, you're not going anywhere. Can you get out?
